AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB (AKC):  In order to participate in an AKC trial, a dog must have an AKC Registration Number.  If you do not have registration papers but your dog is a purebred, then you can apply for an ILP (Indefinite Listing Privilege) number.  This enables your dog to compete in AKC agility and obedience trials.  AKC trials offer a Standard titling class and a Jumpers with Weaves class (JWW), both of which you must have 3 qualifying runs under 2 different judges.  All dogs must start in the Novice class.  Novice A is for dogs/handlers that have never earned an agility title.  Novice B is for handlers that have earned an agility title with another dog or if they do not own said dog; or if dog has a title in another venue or an agility title in AKC. (example if said dog has his standard Novice Title, he should enter JWW Novice B).  When in doubt, I recommend entering B since it is the same rules and course.  Dogs must be at least 12 months old to compete.
